‘Free Tom Brady’ Rally Draws Hundreds Of Patriots Fans

FOXBORO (CBS) — Hundreds of fans rallied in support of Tom Brady Sunday as the New England Patriots quarterback fights a four-game suspension for his role in DeflateGate.

The crowd started gathering outside Gillette Stadium before 11 a.m. Sunday for what organizers said on Facebook was “a peaceful rally to protest the unjust football arrest” of Brady.

Brady’s supporters were decked out in Patriots gear on the sunny day before Memorial Day. They wore No. 12 jerseys, and made homemade signs reading “Free Tom Brady” and decrying the NFL’s “Kangaroo Court.”

Organizer Pablo Munoz said the NFL is trying to taint the legacy of a champion.

“He might have millions and millions of dollars, but one thing that’s not going to cost money is his legacy,” Munoz said. “And that’s what we’re trying to save here.”

An 18-year-old from New Hampshire is so supportive of Brady that he’s named his very first car, a beat-up Volvo station wagon, ‘Gisele’ after the quarterback’s wife.

“That’s my girl,” he said. “Tom’s got his prize, I’ve got mine.”

Brady was suspended four games by the NFL for being “generally aware” that the team was deflating footballs to below the league limit.

Even fans of other teams turned up to show Brady they have his back.

“I’m a Washington Redskins fan,” said Dick Walsh of Clinton, Connecticut. “I’m so teed off about what happened I went and bought a Brady jersey, and I’m totally with him.”
